Safety is everyone’s job
in John Paul Construction.

Work Safe, Home Safe underpins everything we do and involves every worker, supervisor, and manager, working together to create safe habits, eliminate risks, avoid shortcuts and looking out for each other’s physical and mental wellbeing.

Each year every member of our Group Leadership Team makes a Personal Safety Statement outlining what they will do, in their role, to support and drive our safety culture.

Empowering our People

Life Saving Rules

Life Saving Rules

We have identified 12 high risk activities that demand careful planning and preparation.

Ensuring our people are aware of these risks and how best to navigate them is crucial to ensuring everyone’s safety.
Stop Work Authority

Stop Work Authority

Everyone has the authority to stop work.

We encourage and empower every person on our sites to stop work if they feel it is of risk to their safety or that of others.
Leadership Walks

Leadership Walks

Our Safety Leadership Walks follow a dedicated programme that has been developed to keep singular focus on the safety of a project.

Undertaking these walks at senior level conveys to the team what we should be looking for every day, on every project.
Supply Chain Engagement

Supply Chain Engagement

Our Supply Chain is a critical component of our success.

We work with our Supply Chain to to ensure there is true alignment on the safety standards we expect and empower our subcontractors to meet those standards.
Rewards  & Recognition

Rewards  & Recognition

Safety is our priority in everything that we do.

We therefore created a system that rewards individuals and teams that have either demonstrated consistently high standards or have taken action that best reflects our own ethos.

Health Matters

We cannot achieve our goals, or those of our Clients, if our people are not at their best. So we continually educate and empower them to build and maintain good general health and wellbeing.

This extends to our support of the Lighthouse Club – the charity which promotes mental health in our culture and across the industry – and to having mental health first aiders on all projects and EAP services in place for employees.
