John Paul Construction helps launch the Sustainability Common Assessment (SCA)

Date: July 9, 2026

John Paul Construction is proud to be a founding partner of the Sustainability Common Assessment (SCA). A new industry-wide initiative designed to improve sustainability, streamline ESG compliance and strengthen procurement across the Irish construction industry.

Officially launched at the Aviva Stadium, the SCA has been developed collaboratively by Supplyo and leading construction organisations. Creating a consistent approach to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) assessment. The initiative will help reduce administrative burdens for contractors and suppliers, while improving the quality and consistency of sustainability data across the construction supply chain.

Improving ESG Compliance Across the Construction Supply Chain

The Sustainability Common Assessment replaces repetitive, time-consuming supplier questionnaires with a single, standardised assessment framework. Making sustainable procurement more efficient for both contractors and SMEs.

Key benefits include:

  • A standardised ESG questionnaire tailored specifically for the Irish construction industry.
  • A shared digital platform that removes the need for suppliers to complete multiple assessments for different clients.
  • Reduced administration for SMEs, allowing businesses to focus on delivering sustainable, high-quality construction projects.
  • Improved supply chain transparency, helping organisations monitor ESG performance and support decarbonisation goals.
Driving Sustainable Construction Through Collaboration

The launch event brought together industry leaders committed to improving sustainability across Ireland’s build environment. John Paul Construction’s Sustainability Manager, David McKenna, participated in the expert panel discussion, highlighting the importance of collaboration, shared data and standardised ESG reporting in accelerating the construction industry’s transition to Net Zero.

As a founding partner, John Paul Construction is committed to supporting initiatives that simplify sustainable procurement, strengthen supply chain collaboration and drive measurable environmental and social performance across the Irish construction sector.

The Sustainability Common Assessment represents an important step towards a more efficient, transparent and sustainable construction industry, benefiting clients, contractors, suppliers and communities alike.
