Project Overview

Following substantial flood damage to the Mardyke Sports Arena and its environs at University College Cork (UCC), we were appointed to action extensive remediation works to get this vital hub operational in the shortest possible timeframe.

The entire ground floor was stripped out, including all contents, and reinstated within UCC’s specified programme, thus minimising the impact on the client and patrons of the facility. This task included the decontamination and sanitisation of all areas, tests and surveys of building elements and components, extensive mechanical and electrical installations, new swimming pool plant and equipment, and reinstatement of all floor, wall and ceiling finishes including fitted furniture, cubicles, vanity units, access control and communications systems.

The fitout element of the works comprised placing 1,200m² of specialist sports hall flooring, 560m² of specialist gym area and equipment, 1,200m² of vinyl flooring and 600m² of floor tiling, repairs to the specialist climbing wall and bleacher seating, and a total redecoration of the entire ground floor.
