Senior Authorised Person (Electrical SAP)

Job Summary:
The Senior Authorised Person (SAP) for Electrical works at John Paul Construction is responsible for overseeing and managing electrical activities on construction sites. This role requires a deep understanding of electrical systems, safety regulations, and project management.

The SAP ensures that all electrical work is carried out in compliance with industry standards, regulations, and company policies. This position primarily involves work related to voltages up to 10kV and 20kV.

Key Responsibilities:

Safety Compliance:

  • Ensure strict adherence to safety regulations and procedures related to electrical work.
  • Conduct regular safety briefings and inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Obtain necessary authorizations and certifications for electrical work, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Project Management:

  • Collaborate with project managers to plan and schedule electrical work.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless integration of electrical activities into overall project timelines.

Electrical System Oversight:

  • Undertake switching, testing, commissioning fault diagnosis and maintenance of high and low voltage networks up to a minimum of 10kV (experience of networks up to 20kV desirable)
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues, collaborating with the project team and external contractors as needed.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Currently a Senior Authorised Person.
  • Proven experience in a similar role within the construction industry.
  • Trade Qualified or Electrical Engineering experience.
  • Relevant professional certifications and licenses (10kV & 20kV).
  • A broad understanding of electrical shutdown provision processes, rules and regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Excellent project management and communication skills.
