Carrigtwohill Flood Relief Scheme
The construction and upgrade of an existing flood mitigation project for the IDA. The project involved extensive planning to ensure no works had any operational impact to users of the existing business park.








- Site clearance
- Bulk excavation (55,222m3)
- Extensive traffic management
- Service investigation, trial holes, temporary works and service protection
- Extensive temporary works to maintain road access at all times
- Embankment construction (774m3)
- Construction of a new attenuation pond (49,223m3) and associated flow / hydro brake control headwalls
- Mechanical and electrical works
- Construction of new attenuated crate storage system (11,440m3)
- 919m of 1.5m Dia. concrete overflow pipe and outfall up to 5m Deep.
- Trash screen upgrades and the installation of several non-return valves
- Dredging of the existing ponds (3363m3)
- Liaison with the local Authorities including Irish Rail, Fisheries, ESB including other service providers
- Landscaping including top soiling, grass seeding and shrub planting etc. (>28,000m²)
