A9 Portgower Mill Culvert Replacement

Demolition of existing twin culverts, masonry arch bridge and replacement with a single span pre-cast concrete box structure and reinforced concrete in-situ retaining walls.  The project included localised road widening / realignment on the A9 trunk road network in close proximity to the Inverness to Wick Network rail line entailing work over an environmentally sensitive watercourse whilst maintaining full traffic at all times on the A9.

  • Phased TTM design with 2 phases north and southbound
  • Environmental mitigation measures – CAR and Otter licence requirements
  • Temporary works design and construction within railway support zone
  • Pre-cast concrete box structure 4.5 x 2.5 skewed – design and construction
  • Reinforced concrete walls and parapets
  • Road completion – signs, N2 Barrier, line marking and accommodation works
