Old A9 Traffic Cones Become Polar Bears’ Toys

Date: July 26, 2016

Read the BBC feature on John Paul Construction / Wills Bros JV donating surplus traffic cones for further use as playthings for polar bears at a local zoo. Walker, Arktos and Victoria, the resident polar bears at the Wildlife Park have had great fun frolicking about with the traffic cones. The materials which were no longer fit for purpose on the construction project would normally have been disposed of, however the Highland Wildlife Park and joint venture companies have been working together since last year to make good use of any unwanted material in an environmentally-friendly way.

Work on the new A9 Dual Carriageway is underway near the Highland Wildlife Park at Kincraig, Scotland.  Keith Brown, Secretary for the Economy, Jobs and Fair Work said: “The contractor should be congratulated for exploring opportunities to dispose of this material in such an innovative way.”
