Webworks
Webworks is a fully serviced office facility in Cork city centre incorporating the protected structure of Albert Quay House. The building measures almost 5,000 square metres, divided into 36 distinct units with the capacity to accommodate up to 450 people. It consists of four storeys with a recessed top floor and includes an underground basement carpark. The new building, constructed on a confined site is connected to Albert Quay House via a glazed atrium. The existing limestone wall, 5 metres in height, has been retained along with the other historic and restored features.
In partnership with the developer, Howard Holdings, this negotiated contract was undertaken to build the Webworks for Enterprise Ireland. Prior to commencement, a detailed construction plan was prepared incorporating an extensive risk assessment covering potential problem areas including working within the environs of a protected structure and a tight city centre site. At an early stage we also jointly agreed a fully developed Cost Plan with our Client and we successfully delivered the project on time and within agreed budget.
As part of a comprehensive Quality Plan instituted at commencement of the project we held regular team workshops where benchmark standards were set and sign-off procedures agreed. We encouraged our Client to be closely involved in all design and final material selections which developed a strong working relationship with the alignment of goals and objectives and also ensured that we not only achieved, but exceeded all Client expectations.
This building was the recipient of the 2006 'New Development Award' in the Cork city centre 'Better Building Awards'.
