Eamon joined the Group in 1978 and operated at Site Engineer, Project Manager and Contracts Manager level, across a wide range of projects and sectors before being appointed to the Board in 1998. As part of the senior team who negotiated the management buyout of the company in 2002, he has been involved in the strategic direction of the Group for the past 16 years. Eamon was appointed Managing Director in 2006 and has guided the business in diversifying internationally over recent years and developing growing operations in the UK and Saudi Arabia.
Donal joined our surveying team in 1978 where he was involved in a variety of building and civil engineering projects. He was appointed as Contracts Manager in 1988 during which time he successfully managed a variety of high profile projects. His 40 years of construction experience with John Paul includes prestigious projects across several sectors, such as healthcare, pharmaceutical, education, industrial and refurbishment. Donal joined the Board as Operations Director in 1999 and remains very much hands-on in his role.
Conor qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1985 and joined us in 1990. He was appointed to the Board as Finance Director in 1991. He was part of the negotiating team that led to the management buy out of the company in 2002 and has been closely involved in the strategic management of the company since. He is responsible for all aspects of the finance function including accounting, treasury, financial planning, company secretarial and IT.
Joe McLoughlin – Construction Director
Joe is a chartered civil engineer with over 40’ years international experience in design and build, management contracting and traditional projects in both the private and public sectors. He has served at Director level since 1999 and in that time has successfully delivered in excess of €2.0 billion worth of high profile projects across all sectors including Industrial, pharmaceutical, Commercial, Retail, Health and Education. Joe joined John Paul Construction in 2015 as Construction Director with responsibility for managing our construction activities in the Connaught and Ulster regions. Joe recently completed the Alkermes project in Athlone which received the Large Pharma Project of the year at the 2016 Pharma Industry Awards.
Paraic Keogh – Construction Director
Paraic is a chartered civil engineer with over 28 years’ experience in delivering major projects across all sectors of the industry, notably in commercial and residential developments. He has recently worked on the landmark Elm Park Redevelopment, Trinity City Hotel, and the 296 bed Thomas Street Student Accommodation in Dublin. He has a strong background in senior leadership roles, having served at Director level since 2001. Paraic joined John Paul Construction in 2016 as Construction Director and is responsible for managing our building teams in the Leinster Region.
John Keaveney – Construction Director
John is a civil engineer with over 24 years’ experience in the construction sector, where he has been responsible for the delivery of a diverse range of large scale building and infrastructure projects across multiple sectors. For the past 10 years, John has held senior leadership positions at Director level in both Ireland and the UK.
Liam Kenny – Construction Director
Liam holds a MSc degree in Construction Project Management and has 24 years’ experience in the construction industry in Ireland and the Middle East. He joined the company in 2004 and has operated at senior management level since. In 2011 he was instrumental in establishing Absal Paul Contracting in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, and as Operations Director was involved in the strategic management of the company. Liam has a track record of delivering complex projects for global multinational organizations in R&D, pharma, data and logistics as well as in the commercial and residential sectors.
John Moran – Construction Director
John joined John Paul Construction in 2014 as Contracts Manager and was promoted to Construction Director in 2019. He graduated from DIT Bolton Street with an honours degree in structural engineering and has over 24 years’ experience in the industry covering a broad range of sectors including commercial, retail, hotel & leisure, residential and general property development. Prior to joining John Paul Construction, John worked for both construction companies and property developers giving him an in-depth understanding of the industry from both the contractor and Client side. John is a hands-on manager and is fully committed to working in collaboration with all project stakeholders to ensure that project objectives are met and exceeded.
Liam Casey – Associate Director, Business Development
Liam Casey is responsible for business development, supporting the company’s business strategy and growth plans across all sectors of the Industry. Liam joined us in 1998, having previously worked as a Director for an Irish-based construction company. He is a graduate of the University of Limerick, and has both a B.Sc in Construction Management and a M.Sc in Project Management. Liam started his career with us as Regional Manager to re-establish John Paul Construction as one of the leading contractors in the Munster region. He was appointed Associate Director in 2004. Liam has a successful track record in delivering complex projects and developing long term Client relationships. Liam also oversees our property and development portfolio.
Bruce Lupton-Smith – Associate Director, Construction
Bruce has over 30 years experience working in the Irish, UK and South African construction industries. He spent the first 12 years of his career working for leading contractors in South Africa and the UK, in the civil, industrial and commercial sectors before joining us in 1999 as a Senior Contracts Manager. He was appointed Associate Director in 2005. Bruce is an exceptional manager with an intricate knowledge of all construction sectors and has been responsible for some of our largest and most notable building projects. He’s particularly focused in delivering defect-free projects that meet safety, planning and budgetary targets and works in collaboration with everyone on a project to ensure this is achieved.
Niall O’Connor – Associate Director, Construction
Niall graduated from NUIG with an honours degree in Engineering. With over 20 years’ experience in the construction industry, he has extensive knowledge of a wide variety of projects in many sectors. These include large-scale semi-conductor projects, healthcare, education, sports stadiums and the hotel & leisure sector, including delivery of the multi-award winning Adare Manor. Since joining us in 2015, he has proven his end-to-end management ability of large scale projects. His engineering background lends to his strength in seeking problem-solving solutions for our clients. Niall always gets the best out of people and endeavours to surpass client expectations.
Henry Scanlon – Associate Director, Civil Engineering
Henry has over 20 years’ experience working in the Irish and UK construction industries. After qualifying, he worked as a Quantity Surveyor in the UK before moving into project management on civil engineering projects, and then progressed to contracts manager level with a large civil engineering contractor in 2002. Henry joined us as a Project Manager in 2004 and became our Civil Engineering Director in 2006. He’s responsible for co-ordinating all activities within our civil engineering division, including managing all our civil engineering contracts. He’s particularly skilled on projects involving live traffic management.
Brian Stafford – Associate Director, Surveying
Brian is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with over 30 years’ experience working in both the Irish and UK construction industries. He spent the first three years of his career developing his skills as a Quantity Surveyor in London, working on private and public sector projects in both civil engineering and building. In 1990 he joined us as Contract Surveyor and was appointed as Associate Director in 2006. His commercial responsibilities include surveying and planning budgets. Brian is an exceptional team leader with a focus on cost management, risk management and budgetary confidence. He has an in depth understanding of construction project needs and is responsible for ensuring John Paul Construction projects meet their agreed budgets.
Paul Aitken – Associate Director, Estimating
Paul joined our team in 2003 as a Senior Estimator and became Associate Director in 2006, with overall commercial responsibility for our estimating department. He graduated in 1987 and, before he joined us, gained extensive international experience in the UK and the Caribbean as a Chief Estimator and Company Director. Paul’s experience in tendering is wide-ranging, covering private and public sectors, including residential, commercial, healthcare and education projects. His detailed understanding of design and build projects, together with his empathy with operational, budgetary and process restraints, means he brings a wealth of added value to our projects.
Michael Kelly – Associate Director, Planning / Bid Management
Michael is a chartered civil engineer who graduated from UCD before commencing work as a site engineer. He progressed through the ranks and worked on projects in Ireland and Poland as a project manager before joining John Paul Construction in 2014. Michael has been involved in many of our most prestigious projects from tender stage including Adare Manor, The Seamark Building, Elm Park and the overall development at the SOBO District. In his role he manages the planning department and works closely with estimating as bid manager with a particular focus on early contractor involvement and value engineering to ensure a collaborative approach with client and design team.
Mark Coatsworth – Associate Director, Pre-construction / Technology
Mark graduated from Leeds University in 1997 with an honours degree in Construction Management and has over 22 years construction experience in both the UK and Irish construction industries. He joined us in 2000, and has overseen a variety of prestigious construction projects. Appointed as Associate Director for Pre-construction and Technology in 2019, Mark has extensive technical knowledge of building construction methods and is fully up to date with current and forthcoming innovation. Mark is highly capable of properly appraising construction schemes and proposals, advising clients and design teams in terms of the most suitable construction methods to achieve their commercial and programme expectations.
